On the final year of my Product Design course we had a chance to collaborate with Berg Outdoor and present new concepts for backpacks. The best proposals chosen by the company were awarded. Out of 3 possible themes I chose Urban Chice.
Starting from there, I wanted to develop a backpack design for young adults who enjoy the comfort of backpack, but usually don’t find bags that would fit their current status or taste. The Mellow bag is perfect for an everyday meeting or a few hour trip around the town, or going to a class in university. Interesting about the backpack is that it has a zipper in middle front, which, when closed, holds all the goods together, but when opened, gives easy access to everything necessary. It doesn’t open all the way, so the user woudn’t accidentally open and drop his belongings. The bag is not big, so it wouldn’t make the user feel uncomfortable and like a hunchback, but would be part of polished look.
The backpack fits: a 15inch laptop, a tablet, a bottle, laptop charger, a mouse, a wallet, keys and a mobile phone. In the front, the bag has a small zipper pocket for more recently used small objects, like transportation card.
This concept was awarded with 2nd prize.
